Media Invite: Old Boy's Gallery Bistro Review

11:27:00

Before we go on about Old Boys Gallery, you need to know about the old boys. They are a team of three not-so-young buddies who share the same passion for the elements of a great chill-out place. What are they? They are those that makes Old Boys Gallery: food, beer, art.

Old boys gallery is the spot where food meets art; the canvas where memories are painted. This charming and artistic spot, previously an art gallery, now takes on a class of its own in the neighbourhood of Kampong Bahru.

With its creation of the manster burger to the geekdom of craft beers. It's definitely a place for you! Yes you, to get into the mood with fine art pieces, great food and fantastic beer.

It's make me feel like coming back again and again! The interior design is so beautiful! The art pieces on the wall are all available for sales.

They have more than 150 type of alcohol, some of are seasonal.

You can bring your own lock and lock it on this lover wall.

BELLY GOOD BURGER - $18.90

Japanese style slow braised pork belly with onion rings, pineapple, bacon, cheese and egg served with fries and green.

New dish!! "Warning" the braised pork belly is super addictive!! The sinful pork belly goes well in burger style. Savoury meat and juicy skin worth all the calories.

Bak Kwa Risotto -

You never see wrong!! It's bak kwa risotto. A unique creation by the talents kitchen team. The risotto score pretty well for me. The bak kwa gives the pretty ordinary risotto a little surprise in it. The bak kwa bring sweetness to the savoury risotto. It was worth a try.

MANSTER BURGER (BEEF) - $17.90

Beef patty, stacked with cheese, bacon, egg, and caramelized onion, served with fresh green and fries.

Old Boys Gallery signature burger. The juicy and chewy beef patty combined well with all the ingredients in it. The caramelized onion give this dish a little twist in it.

SPAM CHIPS - $9

Your favorite luncheon meat with wasabi mayo.

I would say, this is a pretty good finger food for drinking alcohol.

POTATO HEAD - $7.9

Sweet potato fries with curry mustard dip.

My favourite bites among all!! The sweet potato fries was fried to crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The curry mustard was created for this dish.

CHILI BEEF FRIES - $13.9

Chili beef with kidney bean, fries topped with nacho cheese, mayonnaise and Parmesan cheese.

The chili beef fries was good but not that fantastic as the chili gravy was lacking of some flavor and it wasn't spicy at all. If this was just a cheese fries, it will score very well but it was not!

OBG WINGS - $10.9 / $18

Full wings marinated in chef’s legendary sauce ( 3pcs / 6pcs )

The wings was marinated with marmite sauce. No wonder it tasted quite unique. The wings was sweet and a tad bitter on the outer area. But on the inner area, the meat part it was quite disappointing as it was lack of flavor and it was under-cooked.

FORM YOUR OWN TRIPLETS AT $21

Create your own side dish, you can choose 3 side from the side section!

OBG CRAB CAKE -

Sassy flavors of special crab cakes with mango relish

VONGOLE BIANCO -

12 Venus clams sautéed in white wine broth, served with crispy toast.

CRISPY PORKY -

Roast pork at its juicy best served with kecap manis.

EARL GREY CAKE WITH LAVENDER CREAM - $7.9

Earl grey cake Topped with luxurious lavender cream. I find that the lavender aroma was too overwhelmed and it cover the earl grey aroma. The cake was good but i couldn't taste any earl grey in it.

COCONUT CAKE - $7.9

I would highly recommend this dessert to everyone! This coconut cake with gula melaka in it was so good. I never thought that gula melaka will taste good in cake style. Both ingredient works well together.

DEVIL’S DOUBLE CHOCOLATE - $9

As sinful as the devil. Especially when served with ice cream.

Food: 4/5
Ambience: 4.5/5
Service: 5/5

My Verdict:

Old Boys Gallery sure will be the next big thing in Singapore. With the creative and delicious food, and more than 150 kind of alcohol, they sure will be getting more and more popular as people tend to shared good things.
