Food Review: Nan Hwa Chong Fish Head Steamboat
11:42:00Most probably the oldest restaurant in Singapore since 1927, Nan Hwa Chong is said by many to be the creator of the Teochew Fishhead Steamboat.
Located right at the corner of North Bridge Road and Jalan Sultan, this very traditional fish soup steam boat offers a uniquely Singapore dining experience. The Nan Hwa Chong signboard has become synonymous with a silky smooth, totally slurp-worthy soup that incorporates rich and sweet tastes into a dining experience that represents Singapore.
Red Snapper Soup - S6
Not your ordinary fish soup. This bowl of soup was really good. The broth was clear, rich, sweet and aromatic. The red snapper was fresh and sweet. The troublesome part of eating this red snapper was it has lots of tiny bone in it.
Taste: 3.8/5
Golden Pumpkin Prawn - $12
Addictive pumpkin sauce. The prawn was fried still crispy and was coated with pumpkin sauce. The savoury sauce goes well with the prawn and it was so addictive. Probably i can finish up this whole plate of goodness by myself.
Taste: 4/5
Fried Omelette - $8
Average omelette that you simply can cook yourself.
Taste: 1/5
My Verdict:
Nan Hwa chong fish head steamboat is worth a try! The fish head steamboat is a must-order dish and the golden pumpkin prawn!
