Food Review: Blu Jaz Cafe

11:41:00

Blu Jaz Café started as a 16 seater Burger joint at No.71 Dunlop Street in Little India in 2004. Next to it is The Inn crowd, a popular backpacker’s hostel. And a stone throw away is Prince of Wales, an Aussie pub cum backpackers. Blu Jaz moved to our current location at No. 11 Bali Lane in Kampong Glam in 2006 and has been here for the last 8 years. In between, Blu Jaz has grown into a popular hot spot for live entertainment, bursting with great vibes, music, visual arts and people. As a company, Blu Jaz group of bars and restaurants have grown to include Muzium Mediterranean Cafe and Piedra Negra Mexican Bar and Restaurant. Blu Jaz and Piedra Negra have recently expanded into Malaysia.

Corn Tortillas - $8.50++

 A tortilla is a type of thin, unleavened flat bread, made from finely ground maize. In Guatemala and Mexico, there are three colors of maize dough for making tortillas: white maize, yellow maize and blue maize. Over at Blu Jaz, they fried it till crispy. Best finger food to go along with when you're drinking alcohol.

Taste: 2.25/5

Chicken Shawarma - $14.90++

True shawarma is cooked with stacked, spice-marinated meats– lamb, turkey, chicken, beef, or a mix of meats. The chicken was well marinated with spies. and it was tender. The pita bread was soft, chewy and thin. The special dip for the chicken shawarma was good, it goes well with it.

Taste: 3/5

Cheese Chicken Cutler - $12.90++

The chicken cutlet was slightly dry and tough. But the cheese and tomato with spies sauce on it, help to fight off the average and tasteless fried chicken.

Food: 1.5/5
Ambience: 3/5
Service: 1/5

Overall, Blu Jaz cafe was one of the recommend place to go for a drink or chilling session with friends/colleagues/date. The food was decent. I enjoy the cozy and chillax ambience over here along with some good live band.
