Food Review: Sin Swee Kee Chicken Rice
09:46:00
Sin Swee Kee was started in Mosque Street in 2001 by two friends - CK Tan and LJ Shaw - who combined their respective business interests to form a brand new whole. Mr Tan owned a poultry farm in Malaysia that supplied chickens to hotels and restaurants while Mr Shaw ran a Chinese restaurant. They detected an opportunity and the rest, as they say, is chicken rice history.
And history is all around Sin Swee Kee as well. The restaurant occupies two shophouses on a side street opposite the Raffles Hotel. Sin Swee Kee has established itself as a legitimate player in the chicken rice stakes.
Condiments -
The Chilli was fragrance and spicy, but the dark soy sauce was bad, it was slightly bland and just pure salty.
Tasteless Soup.
Roasted Chicken Rice - $4.50
The chicken was delightfully tender with no gamey smell. The sauce drizzled on the chicken is the most intensely flavoured I've come across. It was very savoury and fragrant! Rice was average, it was fragrance but it was not clumpy.
Taste: 2.4/5 (Chicken)
Taste: 0.5/5 (Rice)
Overall Experience:
The chicken rice was alright but it can be better. This chicken rice didn't make into my top list for chicken rice. But it still worth a try.
