5 Best Char Kway Teow in Singapore

Char Kway Teow also known as Fried Kway Teow is one of the most wanted dishes in Singapore that you cannot past through. Although it doesn't look photogenic but it was delicious. Like what people say "Don't judge a book by the cover". It's just simply mixture of flat rice noodles and egg noodles which will be commonly stir-fried with eggs, cockles, Chinese sausages, bean sprouts, and Chinese chives. Some will add pork lard in it to enhance the taste.

Char Kway Teow can be found at any hawker centres in Singapore, but it’s not easy for you to find the best one. So, i will be giving my best char kway teow hunt in Singapore.

1. Keletan Lane Fried Kway Teow

This Fried Kway Teow is very popular among people that stay in Hougang. The crunchy pork lard was the key to the success. The kway teow was fried to perfection. It was a hidden gem that founded by me when i was craving for fried kway teow and happen i was around this area. I highly recommend everyone to give it a try.

Three sizes, Small $3, Medium $4, Large $5

The kway teow is springy, packed with wok hei flavor. The charm of a this fried kway teow lives in the generous amount of fresh, juicy cockles,crunchy, juicy bean sprouts, and eggs.

This Char Kway Teow stall has been around for more than 40 years in its current premises, survived the many renovations and most importantly, maintained its quality. Mr Chew has been frying char kway teow since he was a 14-year-old helping his dad out at the family’s street-side stall.

With 40 years of experience, the kway teow was soft and savoury. They were full of flavor and complemented the dish well. If only the cockles can be bigger and juicier. It cost $3 for this plate of fried kway teow.

No. 18 Fried Kway Teow is a famous fried kway teow food stall located near the entrance of Zion Riverside Food Centre on Zion Road. Named No. 18 Fried Kway Teow, but its official address is at number 17 of the food court. You will be surprised with the amount of newspaper and magazines clippings on display. There's always queue at any time of the day!

For those who like to have the little pieces of crispy pork in Fried Kway Teow, No. 18 is the right place. The kway teow is springy, packed with wok hei flavor.generous amount of fresh, juicy cockles and crunchy, juicy bean sprouts.

4. Hill Street Fried Kway Teow.

Hill Street Fried Kway Teow is often the first name to pop up in people’s mind. This food stall made its fame since it was located at Hill Street. These day, we can find this over-40-year-old fried kway teow stall at Bedok South Road Market & Food Centre.

It came with 2 sizes, Small $3.00 and Big $4.00.

The mixture of yellow and flat rice noodles were stir-fried in a sweet black sauce over high heat, giving it a wonderful aroma and coat of dark luscious shine. The distinctive flavor of “wok hay” and the enticing crunchy pork lard differentiate Hill Street’s fried kway teow from the rest’s. Specially, the alluring smoky flavor, imparted to the kway teow by a very hot wok is what makes your dish.

After reading lot of good review from online and newspapers. Finally i decided to give it a try. The highly rated Char Kway Teow in Singapore, and i heard it was the best in Singapore. But sadly after i tried, i was fall from heaven to hell as this highly rated Char kway teow just normal. I don;t understand why people say it so GOOD! This is the only char kway teow that i won't recommend!

One Sized, Small $3.

The kway teow has the right amount of moist and eggy but it was lacking of woi hek aroma. Maybe it due to cooking in bulk.
