Cafe Review: The Lab SG

12:08:00

The Lab is a Halal cafe that’s situated along Jalan Pisang. The decor was an interesting mix of vintage, eclectic and steampunk, with rough-hewn wooden tables, bell jars and assorted lab equipment containing liquids and condiments, and copper pipes running down the length of the walls.

I went on to try it out as the cafe caught my attention. Went to a cafe with my Miss foodies mysterious friend.

Self service/Water Point area.

The graffiti along the wall.

Outdoor seating area.

Menu:

Food:
 Strawberry Rosy Rosemary - $6.50

It was sweet and refreshing drink.

Taste: 1.5/5

 Iced Latte - $6

They using Dutch Colony Coffee Co beans. True to the quality of the beans, the iced latte I got was great. The perfect natural sweetness of the beans and the barista made a very well balanced and polished latte.

Taste: 3.75/5

The Lab Chick Sandwich - $12

Chunks of cajun grilled chicken, along with salad greens and cherry tomatoes are served with Half of Baguette. And a side of sweet potato fries. The sauce given in a small container was tomato sauce.  The chicken was well grilled, but the chicken tasted like our chinese "Char Siew" (Roasted Pork), the texture and the taste was very similar. The sweet and tangy cherry tomatoes gave the sandwich some flavour. The baguette was a little bit disappointed as it was tough and hard to bite it with the meat or the ingredients. End up we only ate the ingredients and left the whole baguette untouched.

Taste: 1/5

Classic Beef Burger - $13

A neat little burger stack held together picturesquely with a knife through its middle. The burger also comes with a side of sweet potato fries. The 6oz Homemade Patty was just alight. The beef patty was not dry but it wasn't that flavorful enough and it wasn't that juicy. The mix cheese was quite fail too as it wasn't goes well with the beef patty or i can say the cheese wan't flavorful or strong enough to go along with it. The sweet potato fries was normal, nothing special about it.

Taste: 0.5/5

Food: 1.25/5
Ambiance: 2/5
Service: 2/5

Overall, The food was really a disappointment. But the coffee was good. Don't leave The Lab sg Cafe without trying one of their eye-catching drinks that were served in a glass beaker, a nice nod to their whole concept. I wouldn't mind come back for the coffee.
