Hawker Food Hunt: Holland Village Market and Food Centre

15:22:00

Holland Village was named after Holland Road which in turn was named after Hugh Holland in 1907. Hugh Holland, who was an architect and an amateur actor, was an early resident. The roads 'Holland Avenue', 'Holland Close' and 'Holland Drive' were officially named after the principal road in 1972. Holland Road is known as hue hng au in Hokkien, meaning "behind the flower garden". The "flower garden" refers to the Botanic Gardens

1. Famous steamed chicken rice Ipoh hor fun house of noodle 驰名白斩鸡饭怡保河粉。麵家.

 Ipoh Hor Fun - $3

The light brown sauce was light and clean tasting although it was a bit on the bland side. The noodles was well cooked, it was smooth and soft. The chicken was very tender and the skin was perfect and separately nicely from the meat.  It was very flavorful and I really liked it with the oyster sauce, which gave it some extra flavor

Taste: 3/5

2. 十六楼肥仔美食.
 Bak Chor Mee - $3.50

The noodles are springy & coated in delightfully savory & vinegary sauce. Generous serving of fresh ingredients and noodle.

Taste: 3/5

3. Hua Soon Western Food.
Chicken Cutlet - $5.50

Old school western food. But it still the best. Nicely deep fried though a little oily, but the Crisp on the outside and tender inside of this chicken cutlet has compensated it

Taste: 2/5
