Hawker Food Review: Telok Blangah Drive Hawker Centre

Recently, i heard Telok Blangah Drive Hawker Centre got a good and yummy hainanese curry rice. So i went down to give it a try with 2 of my foodies friends, Alvin and Kai.

Hainanese Curry Rice - $3.70 (1 Meat, 2 Veggie)
There are few notable must-haves in Hainanese curry rice: the cabbage, the braised pork, the deep fried pork cutlet and the curry that covered almost everything!
The taste-wise, the Chap Chye (Cabbage) was really well executed bringing out the natural sweetness of the cabbage with its delightful texture. The braised pork belly wasn't that good as it was lacking of some flavor and the meat wasn't tender enough. The braised egg was just normal, the braised gravy wasn't that good as it was lacking of flavors as it was very light. The curry sauce is basically the soul for the entire combination in Hainanese curry rice, the curry gravy was thick, creamy and the spiciness was just right.
The pork cutlet was the worst dish out of all. The pork cutlet wasn't flavorful as it was very tasteless, and the flour taste was very strong. The curry chicken was flavorful and the meat was soft and tender.

Overall, the curry rice was pretty average, i would still prefer scissor cut curry rice. It's worth a try. During lunch and dinner time, the queue is always very long, and it might need to queue for at lease 30 mins or longer.
