Food Review: Durian Culture
15:26:00Four decades of passion for the King of Fruit. Durian Culture is the new generation of a family business legacy that has now spanned almost half a century.
It all began with a durian-delivery lorry driver and a dream. Since purchasing his first lorry with hard-earned savings, Lim ChinYong and his younger brother, Lim Chin Kean, or famously revered as ‘Durian King’ by MediaCorp in 1998, established the renowned durian enterprise that supplies to retail outlets and major supermarkets such as NTUC today. Their passion for durians overflows to the family’s next generation who are committed to uphold the art of durian appreciation through Durian Culture. Today, the durian-loving community continues to expand. Looks like the glorious days are shining brighter ahead.
Durian came in different types and every type has a different taste, the price will be different too.
The cheapest started with 3 for $10, 1 for $5 and etc.
They do sell their durian in packaging so the people can just buy and go without waiting.
They do sell other fruits too. So if you are not a fan of durian, why not go for other fruits, all the fruits are very fresh.
Overall, the durian was very fresh and good. The durian seller told us that the durian came in fresh everyday from Malaysia. It's a good place to buy durian and have it on the spot too.

Mao Shan Wang - $20/1kg
The Mao Shan Wang which is perceived to be higher in grade and quality as compared to others durian. Mao Shan Wang durians tends to be greyish brown colour in colour rather than bright green. The flesh of the durian is also a deeper buttery yellow compared to the younger trees. The flavor of the durian is also a little more mellow and bitter. I find the texture and flavor of Mao Shan Wang to be sticky like peanut butter, creamy, bittersweet and slight moist.
Taste: 4/5
Jin Feng - $10/1kg
Another type of durian that the stall uncle recommend us. This durian is more dry and sweeter compared to Mao Shan Wang. But it also less fragrant than Mao Shan Wang. Overall it's still good.
