17:56:00

Hi Readers, i'll be doing a hawker hopping post!
Be sure for more local food on my blog now on!

First Stop, Lau Pa Sat Festival Market.

Built in the 19th century, Lau Pa Sat or Telok Ayer Market has long dominated the local landscape with its striking presence. A true Singapore landmark, it was gazetted as a national monument in 1973.

Located at Singapore’s Central Business District, Lau Pa Sat is busy with the crowds of office workers at lunchtime. At night, a satay street is rapidly set up at the outdoor area of the food market, adding more bustle to the place.

1. Satay.
Satay - $0.60 each for all type meat

There are more than 10 satay stalls, each stall offers its unique flavors. You can have satay skewers of chicken, lamb, beef and pork. We choose chicken and lamp satay from stall 6. The chicken satay was quite dry and tough. But the lamp satay was meaty, flavorful and well marinated. The peanut sauce is thick, sweet and not too spicy.

Taste: 1.75/5

2. BBQ Chicken Wings.
BBQ Chicken Wings - $1.20 Per Pics

The Chicken Wings here are pretty good.  I think they could be a little bigger, but they are roasted nicely and the marination is just right.  It was fresh, hot and crispy on the outside from the roasting. Sprinkle some lime and dip it into chili and yum yum!

Taste: 3.5/5

3. Lai Heng Fried Oyster.

 Fried Oyster - $5

It wasn't good! The fried oyster isn't  crispy enough and the Chilli sauce seen a bit lacking, and it was too oily and bland. The oyster was a bit dry too.

Taste: 0/5

4. Boon Tat Street BBQ Seafood.
 BBQ Sambal Stingray - $10 (S), $12(M), $16(L)

The sambal stingray was pretty bad. Th sambal stingray was over grilled and the sambal chilli wasn't spicy, instead it was quite bland. Overall taste was super bad! It wasn't worth a try.

Taste: 0/5

5. Lau Pa Sat SugarCane.
SugarCane - $2

The sugarcane was fresh and sweet. Adding a lemon for more refreshing.

Taste: 3/5

Second stop, 85 fengshan Market and Food Centre.

85 fengshan Market and Food Centre was located at Bedok North, it was another famous supper place in the east. The most famous food is "Bak Chor Mee", it's a must to try whenever you travel to bedok for supper.

1. Xing Ji Rou Cuo Mian.
 Bak Chor Mee - $3.50

The most famous food over here. High Expectation on it. The stall only sells the soup version which came with minced meat, meat balls and cut red chilli. Taste-wise, the noodles were firm to the bite but the minced pork had an unnaturally sweet aftertaste. The meatballs were firm and nice. The broth was slurping good too. I enjoyed having the cut red chilli with the noodles and asked for more. actually cut red chilli wasn't spicy all.

Taste: 3.25/5

2. Bedok North 85 Fried Oyster.
 Fried Oyster - $3

The freshly cooked fried oyster was decently executed. It had the right portion of starch and egg mixed together. each piece was crispy on the outside while soft and moist on the inside. the oysters were fresh, plump and juicy! Moreover, the chilli complements this real well.

Taste: 4/5

3. Bedok North 85 Fried Oyster.
 Fried Kway Teow - $3

Same stall as fried oyster. The Fried Kway Teow was not bad. It had a semi-wet consistency and each piece of kway teow was well coated with savoury sauce. There were several pieces of cockles added. The beansprouts provided a crunchy texture in between each mouthful. Chinese sausage (lap Cheong) were added too

Taste: 2.5/5

4. Bedok North 85 Fried Oyster.
Fried Carrot Cake White - $3

It was good. It has the right texture and softness, great seasoning and white radish taste, Crispy exterior but soft with right moist interior as well as generous portion of eggs.

Taste: 3.25/5

5. Sin Bedok North BBQ Chicken Wings.
BBQ Chicken Wings - $1.30

Each time order, you would need to order a minimum of two chicken wings. The BBQ chicken wings was pretty good. It was crispy and charred glistening skin on the outside while incredibly juicy and tender on the inside. It was well marinated, flavorful both on the outside and inside.

Taste: 3.5/5

Third stop, Chinatown Complex Market & Food Centre.

Located in the heart of Chinatown, Chinatown Complex Food Centre is a great place to have local traditional dishes and Singaporean street food while you are visiting Chinatown.

1. China La Mian Xiao Long Bao.
 Xiao Long Bao - $5 for 10pieces

It was pretty good. The broth of the dumplings and the filling is tasty and the skin is not too thick. Most xiao long bao in hawker centers are pretty bland but this one hits the spot. This is served with black vinegar and shredded ginger which compliments this dish well.

Taste: 3.25/5

2. Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodles.
 Soya Sauce Chicken - $7/Half, $14/Whole chicken

It was good. This stall always has the longest queue in this food center with waiting time that could exceed an hour where a constant queue forms even during off-peak hours. The meat is given a deeper dimension of taste and optimal tenderness. The sauce is savory yet sweet and goes really well with the noodles/rice.

Taste: 3.75/5

3. Guang Zhou Kitchen.
 Shrimp Dumpling - $3.50

The signature dish over this stall. It was good, the noodles was  springy and resilient, yet not lumpy.  The gritty crispy dried shrimps sambal was good, it was was spicy, flavorful and fragrant. The dumpling, was tightly wrapped with mince pork, shrimps and black wood ear fungus. The umami he lent to the base sauce in the noodles, took all that to another level.

Taste: 3.5/5

4. Cheng Ji 成记.
Steamed Song Fish Head - $13

This stall was featured on Sizzling Woks 煮炒来咯 season 2 hosted by Li Teng and Pornsak. It was pretty good. The fish is fresh and flaky and melts in the mouth. The soya sauce is appetizing and goes great on rice.

Taste: 3/5
