Cafe Review: Department of Caffeine

Department of Caffeine is one of a popular cafe along Duxton road. Department of Caffeine (also known as D.O.C.), specialize on coffee. It offers a very popular brunch menu, with a special menu specifically for the weekends. DOC’s regularly changes their menu to attract more customers or loyal customer to back. Another reason to visit, DOC is also one of those cafes in Singapore that do not charge service fees.
DOC exudes a cool vibe – from the extremely understated exterior, the interior is designed in a modern and stylish manner while managing to remain cosy and relaxing. the atmosphere is casual and rather buzzing when it gets crowded, especially because it is the kind of cafe where you place your order and pay at the counter before the food are being served to your table shortly after.
Cafe Latte - $5
It was damn bad!! The coffee was strong, fragrant but it was too acidity and the aftertaste was very sour.

Iced Mork Specialty Chocolate - $7
I was very disappointed. The name sounded so cool and special but the taste was just normal iced chocolate and nothing special about it.
Mango, Yoghurt, Fresh mint Smoothies - $6.50
I don't feel any special about the smoothies. It just an average normal mango smoothies.
Sundried Tomato & Herb Waffles - $18.50
This dish name sounded amazing. But after i ate it, i get a huge disappointment. as the scrambled eggs were badly over-salted. It was so bad that the eggs were completely inedible!! The waffles were delicious, and it was cooked well and with a lovely savory flavour.
Buttermilk Waffle with Butter rum banana - $16
The cafe signature buttermilk waffles was damn good. They were light and airy, a little soft, but with slightly crispy edges. The complementing sides of butter rum bananas and the creamy vanilla ice cream made this a must-order dish.

Overall, If you have not tried DOC just yet, I do recommend a visit. The buttermilk waffles is a must to try and nothing else.
