Hainanese Village Centre is located in the heartland of hougang. It offer wide range of local food. 



1. Dong Jin Yuan Dian Xin.

Fried carrot Cake Stick - $2 (for 16 Sticks)

the carrot cake Sticks are served right from the frying wok! Super crispy exterior and the inside is still soft and chewy. Fried Carrot Cake Sticks is one of many people’s favourite hawker food that is slowly disappearing from Singapore.

2. Hup Huat White Carrot Cake  合发白萝卜糕.
White Carrot Cake - $2.50

The most distinct taste about this carrot cake is for it’s very crispy exterior. Generous serving of eggs that holds the carrot cake together and this may be one of reasons why this carrot cake is so crispy. The unique thing about Hup Huat White Carrot Cake is their chilli is not stir-fried with the carrot cake but is spread onto the top surface of the carrot cake like how butter is spread on a toast.

3. Lorong Ah Soo Lor Mee.
Lor Mee - $3

The thick bee hoon really complement the dish well! The chili and the vinegar really packed a powerful punch in the lor mee as the flavours become multi coloured in your mouth.

4. 一流香 Nasi Lemak.
Nasi Lemak - $3

I had no idea what is so nice about it that worth the long queue. It's just a normal nasi lemak to me.

Toa Payoh has a few hawker centre, so i will start with Block 75 Hawker centre.



1. Tian Tian Lai Hokkien Mee.

Hokkien Mee - $3

The just-right wetness of the hokkien mee is what makes it so delicious and special!! The noodles wet with the savoury gooey gravy were tender but not mushy. The gravy had good round body and a rich, deep, layered savoury flavour nicely balanced with a slight sweetness.

2. He Jia Yuan Bn Mian.
Dry Ban Mian - $3

 The stall serve the soup ban mian too, but the dry version is what they are better known for. The star has to be the black sauce! It was indescribably tasty, not too salty and nicely balanced with a tinge of sweetness, complementing the smooth and springy noodles perfectly.

3. Traditional Claypot Chicken Rice.
Claypot Chicken Rice - $4

the claypot rice is cooked to order in an earthen pot, laden with a myriad of ingredients including well marinated chicken pieces, Chinese sausages, waxed pork and bits of fragrant salted fish. The claypot rice was very well cooked and taste scrumptious, the rice is cooked directly from the claypot and that takes at least 25 minutes to one hour wait.

ABc Brickworks market and Food Centre is located near the famous queenway shopping centre and ikea alexandar. It offer wide range of local food. 

1. Yong Kee Famous Fish Ball Noodle.
Fishball Noodle - $3

Each bowl of noodle came with 5 fishballs, a fish dumpling (Her Giao) and fish cake. The noodles and chilli sauce were rather normal. The fishball was springy and bouncy.

2. Fatty Cheong. 
Char Siew - 1kg for $38

The chunky meat is well caramelized with a beautiful layering of meat and fats. It was well marinated char siew and it was thick and juicy, with the right amount of charred bits!

Taste: 4/5

3. Wow Wow West.

Chicken Chop - $6

Marvelous chicken chop at ABC market, a generous serving at $6, even the fries. The chicken was tender and well grilled. The sauce was savory and good. 

Taste: 3/5
