Food Review: Tak Po Dim Sum Restaurant
15:13:00Indulge in an authentic homemade dim sum creation and taste a real Hong Kong dim sum in Singapore.
Tak Po is a Chinese restaurant that has been serving Hong Kong Dim Sum and homestyle Cantonese cuisine for many years in Singapore. They serve an assortment of steam or fried dumplings, rolls, rice toppings, congee, and other interesting Chinese dishes.
It is their tradition to give a taste of home by taking popular dishes and giving the extra care in developing flavours to suit the curious palate of anyone looking for a good food experience.
Menu:
Food:
Luo Han Guo Longan - $1.60
The luo han guo longan was very bland too. It was lacking lot of ingredients. I would rather drink plain water.
Taste: 0/5
Chrysanthemum Tea - $1.80
The tea was very light as the tea bag was those cheap kind. Wasn't worth to drink.
Taste: 0/5
Char Siew Bun - $0.90 Each
The char siew bun was quite disappointing as the char siew was quite bland. Not much taste at all.
Taste: 0/5
Creamy Custard Bun - $1.30 each
Their custard bun was in green and that's quite interesting!! The bun was fluffy, light and soft. I was elated to see the thick and strong flavour of salted egg yolk oozing out like golden lava.
Taste: 3.5/5
Century egg with Pork - $2.50
This is one big bowl of super delicious congee that I would recommend everyone to order and share. It is equivalent to two of our usual rice bowls full to the brim and the chef is extremely generous with the portion of century egg and lean meat. The congee is thick but consistent and not-at-all sludgy, the pieces of century egg fragrantful.
Taste: 3/5
Carrot Cake - $0.90 Each
Very old school kind of carrot cake and it goes well with their sweet and spicy chilli (must request the dried chilli from them).
Taste: 2.5/5
Beancurb Skin Roll with Oyster Sauce - $0.90 Each
The oyster sauce was in liquid form that's quite unusual but it was good. It wasn't over salty or bland. The beancurb skin roll was thin and ingredients was very fresh and meaty. Generous amount of meat inside it.
Taste: 3/5
Prawn Dumpling - $4.20
The fried dumpling was under fried. It wasn't crispy at all. But the prawn was very fresh, big and juicy.
Taste: 0.5/5
Food: 1.75/5
Ambiance: 1.5/5
Service: 2/5
Overall, the food was decent and it was quite cheap compare to other restaurant. I will be back again for more.
