Hawker Hopping: Geylang Serai Market and Food Centre x Ang Mo Kio Central Market & Food Centre BLK 724 x Golden Mile Food Centre

Geylang Serai Market is one of the biggest and busiest wet markets in Singapore. Since 1964, this market has been a focal point for the local Malay community, with a good selection of Malay and Indian-Muslim specialties on offer.

1. Sinar Pagi.
 Lotong - $3

The gravy is not overly saturated with coconut milk, but is redolent with spices. Loaded with vegetables, a piece of tau kwa and half an egg, the final magical touch is the generous topping of sweet "serundeng" (fried grated coconut).

2. Hamid's Briyani.
 Chicken Briyani - $5

The texture of the rice was near perfect. The grains were fluffy and separate and firm to the bite and you can taste the buttery ghee and spices in it. But they don’t use the top grade of Basmati rice here. The chicken was tender that you could seperate it with a fork and it literally dissolves in your mouth.

Taste: 3/5

3. Sinar Pagi Nasi Padang.
Nasi Padang - $5 ( 2 Veg and 1 Meat)

The rendang (Beef) has more intense flavour, it has been caramelised longer, and the meat looks almost jerky-like. However, with excellent knife skill and control of fire, the meat remains juicy and not chewy. Other dish was good too.

Lunching with dad after his appointment. The food we ate are what my dad recommended.

1. Xi Xiang Feng Yong Tau Foo.
Yong Tau Foo - $3

Every piece from $0.40 to $1, minimum $2.50 every bowl.  Xi Xiang Feng’s bee hoon is slightly different from the bee hoon in other noodle stalls. It is abit thicker and firmer, which gives the bite. Pairing it with chilli and sweet sauce is a wonderful combination. When some sesame seeds are sprinkled over, it tastes even better!

Taste: 3/5

2. Lim Hai Sheng Carrot Cake.
White Carrot Cake - $3

The standard has drop a lot. It wasn't nice anymore and wasn't worth the money!! The carrot cake is just normal. The amount of preserved radish (chye poh) mixed in it was very little too.

Taste: 1/5

3. AMK Fried Kway Tiao.
Char Kway Tiao - $3

This green plate may not serve the most visually appealing dish, but it sure kills a sinful craving! Generously fried with eggs, lup cheong & cockles.

Taste: 2.5/5

Lunching with my friends at golden mile food centre as my friends want to buy some stuff. Went to do some research before we settle our lunch over here. All the food that i choose to eat, are either have good review or is having a long queue.

1. Chung Cheng Chilli Mee.Prawn Mee.Laksa.
Prawn Noodle - $4

It was an awesome combination of sweetness and spiciness. It was not overly spicy. It was made from belachan, garlic, onion, shrimp, chilli and other spices. the pork ribs as they were cooked till soft, tender and savory. The prawn was quite disappointing as it wasn't fresh.

Taste: 3/5

2. Hainan Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee.
Hokkien Mee - $3

This Hainanese Hokkien Mee serves an absolutely delicious dry Hokkien Mee featuring thin bee hoon noodles which are perfect for soaking up flavour from the stock.the intense flavour it delivers thanks to the gravy having been reduced down to form a mouthwatering coating to the bee hoon.

Taste: 3/5

3. Keng Heng (Whampoa) Teochew Lor Mee.
Lor Mee - $3

The main ingredients are braised pork, fried fish skin, fried dumpling, fried ngor hiang together with fish cake. The condiments available are sambal belachan chilli, red cut chillies, freshly diced garlic, chopped spring onion and vinegar. The braised sauce is not as thick and sticky, other ingredients was normal.

Taste: 2/5

4. Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice.
Chicken Rice - $3

The rice is fragrant and the chicken is smooth and soft. The soup that comes with it and the chili sauce are also yummy.

Taste: 3/5

5. Zhao An Granny Glass Jelly.
Grass Jelly - $1

Granny Sim’s Grass jelly is refreshingly pang (fragrant) from the boiled Mesona Chinensis and has a QQ spring to every mouth. Drizzled with a light syrup, and topped with shaved ice, this bittersweet dessert will definitely cool your system on a hot day.
