Food Review: Pow Sing Restaurant
11:13:00
Pow Sing Restaurant started in 1983, the owners are hainanese and wanted to share with Singaporeans the true taste of “Hainanese Chicken Rice”. They first set up a chicken rice stall at the current place and later hired a nonya chef and changed name to “Pow Sing Restaurant”.
Menu:
Food:
Sauces for the chicken. The chilli was very fragrance and spicy. It was really good. The dark soya sauce was thick and a tad sweet. Garlic was fragrance and combined well with the chilli and the chicken.
Fragrant rice - $1
The rice don't have the chicken aroma and it was very dry and tough.
Taste: 0/5
Hainanese Chicken - Half for $14
The white chicken was tender and juicy, drenched with a sauce that blends well with the chicken meat
Taste: 4/5
Kangkong with Belacan - $8
The sambal paste was fiercely hot and thats what i love it. It went very well with Kang Kong which was perfectly cooked to maintain the crunchiness and freshness.
Taste: 4.5/5
Tofu with Mushroom - $15
The gravy was too salty maybe it affected from the salted egg. The tofu was smooth and well pan fried too. The rest of the ingredients was just normal.
Taste: 0.75/5
Food: 4/5
Ambiance: 2.5/5
Service: 3/5
Overall, This is a place you can truly enjoy traditional Hainanese Chicken Rice alongside sumptuous Nonya delicacies. I will be back for more.
