Hawker Food Hunt: East Coast Lagoon Food Village

11:34:00

East Coast Lagoon Food Village is considered by many to be the epicentre of barbecued seafood. Families flock here before and after a day of activities on the beach for ice cold sugarcane juice and a sumptuous meal of grilled cuttlefish and fish with a hot bowl of steamed rice.
Designed with a resort-like feel, it offers local hawker-fare at reasonable prices and a charming seaside ambience – perfect for a meal after a tiring afternoon of cycling, rollerblading or kayaking. Bring home some fried chicken wings and the ubiquitous satay for late-night supper or find a quiet spot on the beach to munch away and enjoy the cool sea breeze while you’re here.

1. Ah Hwee BBQ Chicken.
Bbq Chicken Wings - $1.30 Each (Min order 2)

The aroma of the chicken wings made my head turn and it pulled my nose towards it. What happened next was some finger licking good wings followed by the remains of the bones.

Taste: 4/5

2. Leng Heng BBQ Seafood & Claypot Deluxe.

 Sambal Bbq Stingray - $18

The stingray was well grilled while keeping the meat moist and tender. I love their cincalok which gives a tangy, robust taste. However, I find the sambal chilli not fragrant enough.

Taste: 3/5

3. Haron Satay.
 $0.50 per stick -

They use chicken pieces instead of mince and the sticks are quite generous. The taste of the satay is quite good and the homemade peanut sauce has got a generous amount of peanuts in it.

Taste: 4/5

4. SONG KEE FRIED OYSTER.
 Fried Oyster - $5

I love how it is slightly wet and bursting with flavours (oyster, egg, cilantro, chilli dip).

Taste: 4/5
5. ROXY LAKSA & PRAWN NOODLE.
Laska - $3

It was pretty good. The laska gravy was thick, fragrant that is not overly coconuty, which is the hallmark of a good laksa.

Taste: 3.5/5
