4 Days 3 Nights in Batam (Part 1)

16:07:00

Me and my friend "HP" went for a short getaway about 2 months back. We went for a 4 days 3 night trip to batam. We took a ferry at harbourtfront terminal. The journey to batam was about 1 hours. Once we arrived batam, we went to buy our data plan over there, the data plan cost about 150000 rupiah for 5gb of data for 1 week.

Next we boarded a cab and cost us around 70000 rupiah to reach our hotel. We will be staying at Novotel Batam for our next 3 nights.

Had done a blog post review about Novotel Hotel, check out the link here http://jthejon.blogspot.sg/2016/05/novetel-batam-hotel-review.html .

Next we went for our dinner and is our first meal over there. Went to nagoya hill food street to have our dinner.

Above photo was iced bandung, and i really regretted ordering it as this bandung do't even taste like bandung instead it tasted like strawberry milk!

Soursop Juice -

Average packing Juice.

Famous ayam penyet -

It came with a chicken tight, fried soya bean, potato and veggie topped up with the famous signature sambal chili! Trust me, the spicy lover surely will love it. The sambal chili was really hot and spicy, fragrance and well goes with the chicken and rice. The chicken meat we find it was a little dry, over-fried and not flavorful enough.

Green Chili Ayam Penyet -

The famous dish at batam. Lot of friends recommended me this green chili chicken dish. And i glad i tried it. Spicy lover alert!! This green chili was really ultimate spicy, it's way spicy than monster curry level 5 spiciness. But you will feel damn shiok having it. I am recommending everyone to give it a try.

Mie Ayam -

Basically it was braised meat (Chicken) with plain noodle, veggie and fried soya bean. The noodle was too oily and it doesn't have much taste same as the braised meat.

Condiments for the noodle. The condiments all tasted weird to me.

Food: 2/5
Ambiance: 1/5
Service: 1/5

My Verdict:
The green chili chicken is the must try dish. If you can't take spicy, i suggest try their signature ayam penyet. The ambiance was like open space food court just that it much more cooler than Singapore.

Day2:

The next day morning, we went back to nagoya hill mall and have our breakfast! This restaurant name caught our attention so we decided to give it a try. We google a bit of them and realize they actually quite famous around here.

We order their "Broadway Pizza", inside was smoked beef with lots of melted mozzarella cheese. It was so good that we order one more to take back to our hotel and eat. The cheese was really cheesy and flavorful and it doesn't snatch the smoked beef taste too. Each of them prove their value in this dish. The only thing i don't like was their dough, it was quite plain and not crispy.

Their Milk Tea actually tasted better than all of the restaurant or stalls around here. I am a coffee and tea person, i need my daily coffee/tea.

Panties Pizza:

Penumping, Solo

Opening Hours: Daily: 10am - 11pm

Giving this interesting bakery stall a try. Saw a few advertisement on the stall, so we decided give it a try.

Couldn't remember what is this call. But inside the bread was cheese. The bread was fragrance and buttery. It good to goes with a cup of coffee or tea. Average bread, can give this a miss.

Bread Kurtos:

Opening Hours: Daily: 10am - 11pm

After our breakfast, we headed to Barelang Bridge, the famous bridge in Batam. This is a chain of 6 bridges of various types that connect the islands of BatamRempang, and Galang. The place very crowed during weekends! Not much foreigners here too, mostly the locals.

Some of the beautiful scenery.

A small stall that sell coconut, grilled corn, and drinks. A place for people to have a break here and enjoy the sea breeze.

Grilled Spicy Corn.

I tried the spicy version while my friend tried the original version. The spicy version was sweet and savoury, the chili was home-made by themselves. The chili was quite spicy toward the end. The more you have it, the more spicy you will get.

 Beautiful Sunset.

We rent a cab for 3 hours and it cost about 300000 rph. It will be an hours journey from nagoya hill mall to barelang bridge.

Went to have our dinner at wey wey seafood. we was recommended by the cab uncle while we heading back to our hotel. So we decided to give it a try during dinner time.

 Chili Crab -

The chili crab was very different from our Singapore version. Their version of chili crab was way too sweet for our liking. It wasn't eggy enough too. The crab was fresh but we don't really like the sauce.

 Sambal Prawn -

The sambal wasn't spicy instead it was salty, and the sauce was quite watery too. Don't try it.

 Sambal Kangkong -

The taste was similar to the sambal prawn. Their sambal dishes really couldn't make it. They need lots of improvement on their sauce and seasoning.

 Tofu and Seafood Hotplate -

The only good dish among all! The tofu was smooth and flavorful. The tofu adsorbed the full flavors of the sauce. The sauce was mushroom sauce i guess. It has a strong mushroom aroma but it tasted savoury and addictive. We clear out this dish in a matter of minute.

Food: 0.4/5
Ambiance: 0.5/5
Service: 1/5

My Verdict:
The seafood over here wasn't that good. Should try other famous seafood restaurant next time. The ambiance was good at first till the fly keep attacking us. Lots of insect flying around the lamp post and the table closer to the sea. It make us feel very uncomfortable.
