JB Cafe Review: Koone x Kate N I Scream

14:28:00

KOONE started its soft opening on 12th November 2015 and I decided to visit them over the weekend. The softserve parlour is few doors step away from TIP, The Ice-Cream Project. The competition heat just gets hotter along Jalan Dhoby with the hipster café.

Painted in bright neon pink colour with a huge swinging door at the entrance machiam like some big hotels, the double storeys building boosted a huge and brightly lited interior, splashed with bright colours and grey walls.

Upon entering, you will see the counter where the staffs are in action and cashier counter near to the staircase. Orders and payments are made at the counter and the staff will provide a block with number as reference to be placed on the table.

Their menu is simple and straightforward and quite similar to Via Tokyo in terms of the softserve serving.

M Cold Brew - RM 10

Ordered their iced coffee and try. I was really regretted order it as the coffee wasn't up to my expectation. The coffee aroma was very light and it was lacking of the coffee body.

Taste: 0.25/5

66% Dark Chocolate - RM 14

It comes with the liquid nitrogen that lasts for approximately 30 seconds. Indeed an instagram-worthy soft-serve I would say. It was rich, creamy and smooth chocolate and not overly bitter even though it could be a little icy sometimes. Pretty worth the price for the gimmick and the treat.

Taste: 4/5

French Vanilla -RM 10

The french vanilla was even better!! The vanilla aroma was very strong and it enhance the taste of the  ice cream.

Taste: 4.5/5

Overall, I would say the soft serves here are served in interesting ways to enhance the visual satisfaction. The soft serves are creamy and delectable.

This cafe name caught our attention. So we decided to give it a try before heading back to Singapore. The cafe also sell croissants, hamburger, pizza, snacks from tea and coffee drinks. There are many little monster doll shop decoration, to allow customers to be accompanied by props used during the self-timer or photo.

Ice cream display bar -

Topping to choose from  -

Iced Peach Tea - RM 7.90

I was recommended by their staff, their iced peach tea was the hot seller drink over at the cafe. I decided to give it a try!! The tea aroma was there same as the peach aroma but it wasn't too overwhelmed. It was really good.

Taste: 3.25/5

Ice Cream Set - RM 25.90

It came with 4 scoop of ice cream, 2 flavors to choose, and 2 toppings.

We chooses earl grey and Yam ice cream along with hello panda and cereal toppings. The earl grey aroma was strong but not for the Yam flavor ice cream. The ice cream was creamy and rich but it wasn't good enough compare to KOONE.

Taste: 1.5/5

Ambiance: 4/5
Service 4/5

Overall, the ice cream was very normal but it was a pretty good place to chill as it was very cosy and quiet.
