Popular roast meat eatery Kay Lee has been sold for $4 million to conglomerate Aztech

Kay Lee Roast Meat Joint was started around 1970s in "Gong Seak Gai" which is known as today's "China Town".It started off as a small stall known as Kay Lee Roast Meat Joint in a coffee shop known as Wantat Eating House. With inherited knowledge of uniquely spiced Roasts, Kay Lee thus made its name into the neighbourhood with its unique roasts uncomparable even till today. Kay Lee at this time was the second generation of a family business of "ZhuJiang" Style Roasts which originated from China "Guang Zhou"
Roasted Duck, pork and Char Siew - $24 (2 Pax)
The roasted duck wasn't that good, the meat wasn't flavorful enough, it was slightly plain and dry. The skin wasn't that crispy too.
The roasted pork was good, the meat wasn't that much fat and it was tender, and the skin was really crispy and crunchy.
The Char Siew that everyone raved about. It was really GOOD!! Thee char siew was very darkish but it was very original, they never add any coloring to make it red. The meat is really tender, savory, sticky and chewy. The sticky gooey sauce make the char siew even better. It was one of the best char siew in Singapore.

Ng Kim Lee is one of the few remaining old school bakeries in Singapore. It's located near Beauty World, it has a very old-looking shop front and signboard. The shop been in the business for close to 60 years, and is known for its Teochew-style pastries and Western cakes.
Egg Tart - $0.80
Ng Kim Lee egg tart was one of the few that stand out in Singapore, with its flaky thin crust and the soft smooth egg custard, the egg tart wasn't too sweet and made a pretty good snack.
Portuguese egg tart - $1.20
It was good. The Portuguese egg tart has a signature dark brown burn spots that crater its yellow custard surface. It also has a more flakey, less crumbly pie-crust as compared to its Chinese style egg tart counterpart.

Thanks to the courage and foresight of the founder – Mr Fong Chee Heng. Arriving on Singapore soil in the early 1900s, Mr. Fong was overwhelmed with hope and joy when he saw countless opportunities in this thriving seaport. From that moment, he found his aspirations for “dong xing” or Tong Heng (translated as the "Prosperity of the East") would be a dream came true.
From humble beginnings with a pushcart stall for over two decades selling coffee & toast, the business gathered momentum and eventually found home to a shop-house at No.33 Smith Street in 1930s. With the opening of the new shop, the founder introduced a wide range of pastries and deserts that gave a new twist to an otherwise boring Chinese coffee shop (café).
With the current main shop at 285 South Bridge Road, in the central of Singapore, and a branch at Jurong Point in the west of Singapore, Tong Heng offer real and tasty traditional Chinese pastries for all to savor.
Egg Tart - $1
One of my favouritest egg tarts in singapore with its crispy crust and smooth, slightly liquid egg filling.
