Food Review: Nine Fresh x Xiang Signature x Sri Sun Express

10:50:00

Nine Fresh is the first local chain of Taiwanese dessert brand in Singapore, and the name derives from jiufen (jiu = nine), a place located in Taiwan, famous for its taro balls. The company decided to rebrand from the previous beanstalk to focus on the authenticity of the popular Taiwanese dessert.

Glass Jelly Special - $2

As recommended by the staff, the 3 most popular choice were No. 1, 3 and 5. It served with taro balls, aloe vera pearl jelly, black sugar jelly dice and milk ball.

The fresh batch grass jelly wasn't chilled enough (room temperature). The aloe vera pearl jelly is solid, so do not expect it to burst liquid out as some would assume. As for the black sugar jelly, expect something firm like nata de coco, with sweetness to compliment the grass jelly.

Taste: 2/5

Overall, my friends and me both don't like it! As we still prefer blackball!

Hunan cuisine, also known as Xiang cuisine, consists of the cuisines of the Xiang River region, Dongting Lake, and western Hunan province in China. It is one of the Eight Great Traditions of Chinese cuisine and is well known for its hot spicy flavour, fresh aroma and deep colour. Common cooking techniques include stewingfrying, pot-roastingbraising, and smoking. Due to the high agricultural output of the region, ingredients for Hunan dishes are many and varied." I could not have described it any better.
Steamed Fish with Chilli sauce -

The fish was well steamed and it doesn't has the fishy smell! The chilli sauce was really spicy but the chilli oil was too much!

Taste: 1.5/5

 Braised Duck -

The braised duck was well braised. The braised sauce was savoury and a tad spicy as they added chilli padi in it. It spice us the taste of it! The duck meat was tender and not too oily.

Taste: 2/5

Service: 1.5/5

Overall, the food was decent but is not too our liking so we won't be back again! Hunan cuisine is not to our sigaporean liking!

Plain Prata - $1

The plain prata wasn't crispy enough and it was quite bland! If without the curry gravy it will be very awful!

Taste: 0/5

Egg Prata - $1.50

Normal.

Teh Tarik Iced - $2

The teh tarik wasn't that good too! The tea aroma wasn't there and it was very tasteless.

Service: 0/5

Overall, it just an pretty average prata! Not worth a try!
