Cafe Review: Hyde and Co

13:31:00

Hyde & Co. celebrates Singapore’s long history as a flourishing trading port for teas and other exquisite products. It draws inspiration from its past – the old world British charm and its present – a thriving and exciting metropolis.

Hyde & Co. a cozy contemporary English-themed cafe located in the heart of the vibrant Kampong Glam precinct. The offerings are English inspired with a touch of local – made lovingly with passion and heart. With an extensive tea menu and artisanal gourmet coffee, fresh artisan pastries and cakes daily, and a menu chock-full of goodness – all that’s left to do is to indulge and enjoy, really. Gather your pals and that special someone and they’ll do the rest to make you feel right at home.

Menu:

The tea selection here is huge. Choose from a total of 45 tea flavors under the categories of black tea, flavored black tea, green tea, white tea, herb blend, fruit tea and rooibos.

Food:
Iced Mocha - $7

The mocha was lacked of body, and the fragrance.

Taste: 0.5/5

My Fair Lady - $7.50

The special Hyde's housemade earl grey tea. It consist of many ingredients/herbs. It was very fragrance, light, clean, and not overly sweet. It's the perfect drink for ladies or even a after meal tea.

Taste: 4.8/5

Truffle Fries - $12

This must be one of the few worst truffle fries that i ever eaten. Truffle fries no truffle taste, and the dip wasn't that matching and good. The soul of this dish wasn't here at all. My advice is never ever try their truffle fries.

Taste: 0/5

The Full Works - $21

Baked cheese portabello mushroom, streaky bacon, honey baked ham, roasted baby potatoes served with Hyde's creamy scrambled eggs and sourdough rye.

It was good especially the baked cheese portabello mushroom, it was unique, the taste was good and extraordinary. The scrambled eggs were buttery and running. The sausage, bacon and baked ham was just normal.

Taste: 2/5

Hyde's Chilli Crab Pasta - $16

This house made arrabiatta is tossed with crab meat, and chili crab sauce. The sauce wasn't too spicy or overwhelming, it was just perfect. Currently the best chilli crab pasta that i ever try.

Taste: 3.25/5

Overall, My advice is to skip the coffee, go for the tea. You can always get your daily dose of caffeine at every other cafe. It's an nice cosy café to laze the weekend away and simply chill. Will definitely try the tea on my next visit. The best thing is there are no Service charge and Gst.
