Food Review: Mak's Noodle Singapore
19:47:00The famous Hong Kong Mak’s Noodle has opened in Singapore at Centrepoint. Mak’s Noodles Singapore imports their noodles and wonton (i.e. wanton) skin from Hong Kong, ensuring the same taste and consistency as the original shop. They have promised that their Singapore’s outpost will taste as close to their Hong Kong’s outlets as possible, 95% to be exact.
Mak's Noodle has six outlets in Hong Kong, is known for its springy noodles and plump wontons filled with chunky prawn in a bowl of flavourful soup.
It is priced at HK$36 (S$6.25) in Hong Kong and will cost $6.90 a bowl here. The 900 sq ft, 40-seat outlet will specialise in noodle dishes for a start, and may introduce congee only after a year.
The 70-year-old chef from the flagship Wellington Street outlet in Hong Kong will be based in Singapore for two years. Hong Kong chefs will also head the kitchens of the upcoming branches.

Ambiance: 1.5/5
Service: 2/5
Overall, the wonton noodles are different from the local version, only that the portion is quite small. It's totally worth the money.

The 70 Years old chef are cooking the noodle.
The homemade chilli sauce was really good. Best combine with the wanton or dry noodle.
Chinese Tea - $1.50 (Refillable)
A good cup of tea to cool down your body after a heavy meal.
Iced Luo Han Guo - $3.20
It just a normal herbal tea, nothing special.
Taste: 1/5
Kai Lan in Oyster Sauce - $4.90
I started off with a veggie dish. This dish has disappointed me, the dish was just ordinary kai lan in normal oyster sauce. It kind of bitter too.
Taste: 0/5
Beef Brisket and Beef Tendon - $16.50
The brisket was well cooked, and well soaked in flavor, but it wasn't soft enough. The tendon was soft, chewy and slippery. Well cooked.
Taste: 2.75/5
Dumpling Soup - $9
It served with the tossed noodle. The dumpling was huge and good. The taste wise, the skin was smooth and thin. The prawn was huge, fresh, film and juicy. The broth was light, fleshy taste from the ingredients, and it wasn't salty like others.
Taste: 4/5
Tossed Noodle with Oyster Sauce -
The noodle photo will be inside the overall food photo. The tossed noodle with oyster sauce was just pretty average. It was quite dry and the flour taste was quite strong too. I would recommend the soup base noodle.
Taste: 1/5
Wonton Noodle Soup - $6.90
It's the must order dish!! The taste wise, the noodle was springy and thin. The wonton are succulent and fresh. Beauty in simplicity.
