KL Cafe Review: VCR Cafe

Coffee explorers & a shot of creativity. On second thoughts, make that a double. VCR are located in the heart of KL city, in the old neighborhood of Pudu; VCR brings you fresh coffee daily. The café, built in the 1927 is situated near the old Pudu Jail. The story goes that our lil’ black house in Jalan Galloway was where most wardens used to stay (hence the name Galloway).
Where old architecture meets the modern twist, it’s a place where good things never gets old and it always feels like home. Located in an unsuspecting house, they’re the people responsible for the smell of coffee that permeates the neighbourhood. Run by a team that’s dedicated to always giving you the very best coffee and experience, They believe coffee is the catalyst that brings people together.
They’re a bit introverted, but do say hello to their baristas as they say “Hello, welcome to VCR!”.
VGR Big Breakfast -
House made stewed beans, chicken chipolata, grilled tomatoes mushroom friccasse, two free range eggs in any style on sourdough beef bacon or turkey ham. Their big breakfast is so different from other cafes version. I guess non-veggie eater will not like this dish, as I don't eat tomato so I won't judge this food.
Soft shell crab Burger -
Deep fry soft shell crab, home-made tartar sauce, sunny side up, onion jam, quick pickle cucumber. Interesting dish but hope the taste will be good too. The soft shell crab was cooked, it was crispy and savory. But this burger was challenging to eat. I suggest don't bring your date over for first date.

Pretty Cruel -
Valrhona chocolate ice cream, katai banana, fluffy brioche toast, home-made “Mars bar”, raspberry curd. Chocolaty, chocolate lover will like it. Actually I only like the ice cream. The rest is just normal.

The food was average to use but we like the ambiance over here. Sorry for lacking of photo.

Potato Waffle -
Russet potato waffle, mushroom friccasse, herb salad, tomato fondue 63 degree celsius free range eggs. Unque dish, however I find their waffles was too soggy and plain. But the egg and other ingredients enhance the over all flavor but I just feel that the waffle should be more crispy and flavorful.
