Food Review: Wee Nam Kee Chicken Rice x Two Wings

11:41:00

Wee Nam Kee's chicken rice is known for being one of the more popular family eateries in town. Since 1989, the two generations of Wees have proudly preserve the heritage and recipes refined over the years. Wee Nam Kee at Marina Square is spacious, clean and air-conditioned. They serve three different types of chicken – namely the poached, soy sauce, and fried.

Iced Barley - $1.50

Roasted Chicken - $4.80

The chicken is juicy and tender, the sauce is tasty enough to boost your appetite. The roasted chicken skin was crispy and savory.

Taste: 4/5

Dumpling Noodle - $3.80

The noodle was al-dente and smooth but it was too dry. The sauce wasn't enough for the noodle. The dumpling was filled with pork and other ingredients. I will not recommend anyone to order this.

Taste: 1/5

Rice -

The rice is decent, each long grain rice is well-oiled, mildly fragrant, yet not too greasy.

Taste: 3.5/5

Food: 3/5
Ambiance: NA
Service: 2/5

Overall, Wee Nam Kee doesn’t do other Hainanese dishes to complement the chicken rice. Instead, they offer a decent range of home-style cooked foods such as a bowl of tofu soup with salted vegetables, cereal prawns, sambal kang kong, hotplate tofu etc. Wee Nam Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice currently has four outlets in Singapore – Marina Square, United Square (to replace Novena Ville), Gluttons Bay at Esplanade, I12 Katong.

Two Wings is the talk of the town. Owner Jeremy learnt to fry chicken wings from his granduncle who used to own a stall in Toa Payoh Lorong 5. These chicken wings are extra large and meaty (from Brazil). They are remarkably easy to eat because they aren't greasy - thanks to some nifty frying know-how. The wonderful batter stays crispy even hours after you take them home. Located

The way of eating chicken wings.

Chicken wings - $8.50 (4pcs)

The wing are huge but i find it just normal fried chicken wing, nothing special about it. The skin was crispy but the marinated taste was just normal. I don't find anything special about it.

Taste: 1/5

Overall, i found the wing was very normal. Don't worth a try.
