Food Review: Uma Uma Ramen
14:24:00Uma Uma Ramen has almost 60 years of ramen making experience! Uma Uma Ramen’s name stems from “Wu Maru”, a Ramen shop established in 1953 by the father of Uma Uma Ramen’s current President, Masahiko Teshima. Upon taking over the business in 1994, “Wu Maru” was renamed “Uma Uma Ramen”; a play on the original name of the restaurant as well as a pun on the Japanese word for “tasty".
Menu -
Free Flow Soft Drink - $4++
Coke and Sprite.
Yakitori - $2++/stick
The yakitori here is grilled over charcoal and kuchikatsu is the deep-fried breaded skewers. And the ingredients are imported twice every weekly from Japan. What we order: Chicken thigh, chicken skin (Not in photo), Pork Belly, and lady finger. A must try yakitori here is the chicken skin! The chicken skin was grilled to perfection, it was savoury and crispy!
Taste: 4/5 (Chicken Skin)
Taste: 3/5 (Other Yakitori)
Uma Uma Ramen - $14++
Tonkotsu ramen with charsiu,spring onions, black fungus, spicy miso and egg. The broth was on an salty side. It was flavorful but it was light! The charsiu was slightly tough and wasn't savoury enough! It doesn't score in my ramen list!
Taste: 1.25/5
Spicy ChaSiu Ramen - $16
Charsiu with spicy marinade, chilli oil, leeks, egg, and spring onion. The broth was over salty instead of spicy! We had a hard time to finish it! Not recommended!
Taste: 0/5
Overall Experience:
Uma Uma is a good place to have yakitori and drink not Ramen! It's a good place to chill out after a long day of work! Happy hours start from 4pm - 8pm.
