QUORN: The world leader in meat-free food has arrived in Singapore!
Healthy eating made enjoyable.

Quorn – the trailblazing ‘proudly meat free’ product range that has successfully delivered over three billion meals across 17 countries worldwide is now officially in Singapore, and looks set to delight even more consumers here. Committed to making tasty foods that are not only nutritious but also sustainable for the environment, Quorn is the preferred choice for those who are mindful of what goes into their food. This unique product is high in protein and fibre, low in saturated fat, contains essential amino acids and no cholesterol and is soy-free. Above all, Quorn boasts great taste and texture, making it an ideal ingredient for a broad range of cuisines, cooking styles and palates.

Quorn was established in the U.K. in 1978 and since then, has become widely available in the U.S., Netherlands, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, and closer to home, the Philippines as well as Thailand.

Four products are currently available here via RedMart www.redmart.com and at all FairPrice Xtra outlets and selected FairPrice Finest and supermarket stores – Mince, Pieces, Crispy Nuggets and Southern Fried Bites. In October 2017, seven more products will be available –

Swedish Style Meat Balls, Burgers, Garlic and Mushroom Escalopes, Sausage Patties, Southern Fried Burgers, Vegan Hot & Spicy Burgers and Vegan Breaded Fillets. There are over 80 products available worldwide.

From 2017 to 2018, Singapore’s Celebrity Chef Sam Leong of Forest 森 fame; and his family – wife Chef Forest Leong, an expert in Thai cuisine; their son the budding Pastry Chef Joe Leong; as well as Chef Mama Leong specialising in comforting Singaporean home-style dishes – are the appointed Singapore Ambassadors for Quorn. They will develop delicious recipes to inspire all to try out mindful eating at home. Consumers may also refer to https://www.quorn.sg/recipes for more cooking ideas.

Natural, nutritious, versatile

The main ingredient of Quorn products is Mycoprotein, a nutritionally healthy source of protein produced by a process of fermentation – similar to yeast in bread – using a natural nutritious fungus from the soil and fermenting it to produce a dough called Mycoprotein. In addition, Mycoprotein has been clinically proven to reduce blood cholesterol among people who are suffering from high cholesterol, as well as help to manage diabetes by contributing to reduction of blood glucose and insulin levels. The latter is especially pertinent given the sobering statistics delivered during this year’s National Day Rally – one in nine Singaporeans have diabetes.

As Quorn products have no strong aftertaste and possess the taste, appearance and texture of meat, they are perfect for creating healthier, guilt-free versions of favourite everyday meals.

Sustainable Nutrition
The production of Mycoprotein uses less land and water, thus produces far less carbon emissions than animal protein production – in line with the company’s vision for Sustainable Nutrition. For example, Quorn mince produces 90% lower greenhouse gas emissions than regular minced beef; and has a water footprint ten times smaller than beef which typically requires 15,000 – 20,000 litres of water per kilogram.

Thanks Quorn, and Charlene for the invite!
I was invited to Quorn media launch, and have a chance to taste chef Sam Leong and his team dishes.
