Cafe Review: Sunday Market

13:40:00

Sunday Market is a new cafe located at upper serangoon road. It's quite near serangoon stadium too. Sunday Market goes on Industrial theme. And just like other hipster cafe now, they also have a bicycle mounted on the wall.

Menu:
The menu is different from other cafes too. Sunday Market taking a more Asian-fusion cuisine.
Various cakes are also available in the display. Menu can be found here.

Sunday Market Tea was different from other cafes too. Some cafes was using normal packing tea bag but Sunday Market using fresh tea leaves/herbs.

 Milk Tea Thai - $7

Their homemade Thai Milk Tea was pretty awesome!! The Thai milk tea has a lesser milk taste and has a stronger tea taste. It was very addictive.

 Iced Matcha Latte - $7

It was pretty good. The Matcha and Milk was well balanced. The Matcha taste was not overwhelmed.

 Truffle Fries - $7.90

Shoestring fries deep-fried till crispy tossed in truffle oil. Topped with grated Parmigiano & Truffle mayonnaise.

It was quite disappointing. The truffle taste wasn't strong enough and the fries was a bit soggy.

 Asian Pesto Pasta - $15.90

Spaghetti in coriander & cashew nuts pesto, garlic, chili, crispy fish flakes, cherry tomato, grated Parmigiano & chopped scallions. Topped with seared scallops.

It was another disappointing dish. It was too oily and salty, the pesto taste wasn't there at all.

 Beef Rendang Lasagne - $15.90

Layered of beef brisket in “rendang” sauce with pasta sheets, béchamel & mozzarella. Topped with grated Parmigiano & vine riped cherry tomato.

It was pretty interesting and good. With a firm, chewy bite and a nice ratio of meat, cheese, pasta, and sauce, the lasagna was actually enjoyable. The sauce was the soul of this dish.

Food: 2.75/5
Ambiance: 4/5
Service: 4/5

Sunday Market offers a variety of creative and interesting Asian-western fusion dishes. I enjoyed the ambience of the entire place, love the cozy ambiance. One thing they could improve on was the food quality, although it was quite creative but the taste wasn't that good for the pasta. The prices of the food were relatively reasonable. It's really worth a try.
