Bar Hopping: FIV五 Tapas Bar x Kuro x Wine Connection Bar and Bistro x Brotzeit x Switch
14:47:00Hey Everyone, I'm back for more food update.
This week theme will be "Bar" hopping.
I hardly bar hopping, usually will be more on cafe or restaurant hopping.
I will be doing 5 places of bar reviews, so let enjoy it. Have fun reading it.
First Stop, FIV五 Tapas Bar.
FIV五 bar was first Singapore Tachinomi Izakaya inspired bar. FIV五 is Singapore's answer to the ever-popular Izakayas in Japan. Modelled after the 300-Yen bars, they offer $5 specials all-day-everyday, forever.

Menus can be found in their website.
Mango Beer (Left) ($8), Guava Beer (Right) ($8) // Both beer tasted, bitter-sweet and refreshing.
Asahi Tower ($50++)
Truffle Fries ($8.55) // Golden crisp fries with a hint of white truffle oil. It was disappointed, it just tasted like normal fries.
Sautéed Garlic Cockles ($5) // A local favorite. Cooked fresh to order in garlic, chilli padi, and white wine sauce.
BEER BATTERED FISH & CHIPS ($18) // Dory with a crispy beer battered outside. Served with straight cut fries, mesclun salad, and homemade tartar sauce. It was awful, the fish was tasteless and the fries was dry and soggy.

It was a good place to chill out, and enjoy the music with drinks. The drink over here was cheap and good. But the food over here was very disappointing.
Next Stop, Kuro.
KURO, which means "BLACK" in Japanese. The interior is a mix of minimalism and industrialism, old world charm and modern eclecticism, yet surprisingly warm in its atmosphere. Stone bricks and concrete walls juxtapose with wood floorings. Huge rusty iron doors with big hatch wheels flank the entrance. Incandescent vintage light fixtures with glowing filaments give a warm vibe to counter the black ceiling and stark black bar stools of interesting designs. Recycled vintage wood planks from an old church are used in the walls, table tops and bar top.

Bluefin // It was mixed with Absolute Citron, Cointreau, Blue Curacao, and Lime Juice.
Fried Chicken Wings // Deep fried chicken wing with prawn paste. Average.
Fried Calamari // Fried Squid rings with spicy mayo. The squid was fresh and springy. The spicy mayo was good.
Kohitsuki Saikyo Yaki // Young lamp rack grilled with Japanese sweet miso. It was tender and succulent with a nice char on top. I also enjoyed the miso-mentaiko sauce.
Thai Style Pork Loin // The meat was tender and good. The sauce was good too, it was well stir-fried.
