Cafe Hopping: 49 Seats // The Plain // Strictly Pancakes

13:32:00

Hi fellow readers! I am back again for more cafe reviews.
It seems like my cafe reviews attracted more readers than my restaurant reviews. So I am gonna do more cafe reviews these 2 weeks. I am enjoying my holiday now but guess I am gonna start finding a job.

Let's start off with my cafe hopping trip at 49 seats with Alvin and kang rui.

Made a trip down to 49 seats as we heard a lot of good reviews and saw quite a number of bloggers blogging about it.
The cafe literally has 49 seats, we counted.
The cafe is opened till 430am, it is quite hard to find a cafe that opens till 4am, so for those night owls this can be 1 of the places that you guys can hang around.

Address: 49 Kreta Ayer Road,
Singapore 089007

Nearest MRT Station: Outram Station

 Phone: 6225 4332

Opening Hours: Monday - Thursday,  6pm - 1am
Friday - Saturday, 6pm - 430am

Cheese Fries ($7.90) // Super generous portion of the cheese. It is a must-try dish, it is definitely worth it.

Fish Bites ($8.90) // The fish meat was soft and fresh, but it wasn't crispy enough.

Tom Yum Seafood Pasta ($14.90) // The highly raved pasta! It comes with mussels, Clams and prawns. It tasted like laska to me, but it was sour and spicy, I suggest if you guys can't take much spiciness, you should request for less spicy.

Seafood Marinara ($15.90) // It comes with mussels,  Clams and prawns. The seafood was fresh and the pasta was good but the sauce was a bit salty.

Chicken Chop ($13.90) // There was a list of sides to choose from, we picked mashed potatoes for both sides. The chicken was really soft and tender, the sauce was good too. The mashed potatoes was a bit dry.

Food: 4/5
Ambience: 4/5
Service: 3.5/5

There is no service charge and GST at 49 seats cafe. The food is good and it is a good place to chill and chit chat with friends over the small bites and drinks. I suggest everyone to make a reservation during dinner hours to avoid of waiting for too long. I definitely will be back again.

2nd stop, the plain.

Made a trip down to the plain cafe with my technology blogger friend olivier, do visit his blog for technology stuffs update ( haehcreivilo.blogspot.com).

The plain is a Melbourne styled cafe and it offers good coffee and hearty breakfast. The ambience over here is very cozy with simple furniture.

Address: 50 Craig Road,
Singapore 098688

Nearest MRT Station: Tanjong Pagar Station

Phone: 6225 4387

Opening Hours: Daily, 730am - 730pm

Menu photo taken from the plain Web page.

Generra ($4) // It was mocha. The coffee was good, smooth and creamy. Not too sweet too.

Latte ($4) // The coffee was fragrant, and smooth. The latte art was good too.

Darling's Eggs ($7.50) // It comes with ham, cheese, romantic tomatoes, and poached egg. Poached egg was well cooked, and the rest was just average.

Food: 3.5/5
Ambience: 4/5
Service: 4.25/5

It is a good place to chill out with friends or spend quality time alone on a weekday afternoon with a cup of good coffee and a book. There is no service charge and GST at the plain cafe.

3rd stop, Strictly Pancakes

Strictly Pancakes specialises in both sweet and savoury pancakes. It offered personalise your own pancakes too.

Made a trip down to strictly Pancakes with Oogii for dinner.

44A Prinsep Street,
Singapore 188674

Dhoby Ghaut Station

6333 4202

Monday, 6pm - 10pm
Tuesday - Thursday,  1130am - 10pm
Friday,  1130am - 12am
Saturday,  10am - 12am
Sunday, 10am - 10pm

Chocolate pancakes ($12++) // I think it was too sweet and galore.

Garlic Buttered Prawns ($14++) // The prawns were fresh, the pancakes was soft, and the garlic sauce was rich and creamy. The garlic fragrance was too strong.

Food: 4/5
Ambience: 4.5/5
Service: 3/5

The food was just average,  or maybe I am not sweet tooth person. I think is a bit over priced with some above average pancakes. But it is worth a try. I suggest everyone order and share the pancakes cause the portion is too big to consume it alone.

That's all for this week's entry.

Thanks for reading :)
