Thai Restaurants Review: Thai Gold Food // Nakhon Kitchen // Bangkok Jam

16:50:00

Hi readers, I am back for more updates.

I had finally ended my 1 month telemarketing job at prudential.

It is really not an easy job. I learnt a lot and thank you jacqueline (my boss) for giving me a chance to experience the life of a telemarketer and how tough it is. Doing telemarketing for an insurance company is hard, especially when everyone hears prudential and hang up the call straight away. But oh well I won't go into this line anyway.

Getting started with this week's food post at thai gold food restaurant with Chloe.

An hidden gem at sunshine plaza.

Had dinner with my honki buddy Chloe.  She brought me to this thai restaurant she recommended.

The restaurant is quite popular and crowed during lunch and dinner hours.

Address:  Sunshine Plaza, 91 Bencoolen Street,
Singapore 189652

Nearest MRT Station:  Dhoby Ghaut Station

Phone: 6883 1575

Opening Hours: Sunday - Thursday, 12pm - 1am
     Friday - Saturday, 12pm - 3am

Thai Milk Tea ($1.80) // Average.

Stir fried chicken ($8) // Disappointing dish. The sauce was almost tasteless, and the meat was hard.

Fish Otah ($16) // The fish was fresh, soft and juicy. The soup tasted great too. Highly recommend everyone to try this dish.

Pad Pak Bung (Sambal KangKong) ($6) // Disappointed.  It was damn salty when it was supposed to be spicy.

Mango Sticky Rice ($5) //  It was good. The mango was fresh and juicy. The rice was soft and sticky.

Food: 3/5
Ambience: 3.5/5
Service: 4/5
Price: 4.5/5

The service is fast and efficient. The price is affordable too.  They don't have service charge and GST. The food was nice but some dishes need improvement. I will definitely be back again.

Next stop is Nakhon Kitchen. Brought Joanne and Edith to Nakhon Kitchen for dinner.

Nakhon Kitchen serves authentic thai food of good quality at affordable prices.

It has two outlets,  the outlets are located at hougang and bedok. Both outlets will be extremely crowed during lunch and dinner timings,  you would need to queue for an hour or so to get a table.

Address: Hougang Street 21, #01-341, Singapore 530212

Nearest MRT Station: Kovan station

Phone: N/A

Opening Hours: Daily, 12pm - 3pm, 530pm - 10pm

Pineapple fried rice ($6) // The pork floss went well with the rice. The fragrance of the pineapple made the rice tastier and sweeter. It was a perfect pineapple fried rice.

Tom yum clear seafood soup ($6)) // It comes with the option of seafood,  shrimp, or chicken. The tom yum clear soup is spicier than the red soup base. The clear soup base was clean and sweet but it might feel that acidity is biting in your stomach after.  The seafood was fresh.

Tom Yum Red soup with shrimp ($6) // The red soup base is less spicy than the clear soup base.  But it still tasted great.  Suitable for those people that can't handle too spicy food. The amount of shrimp is quite generous.

KangKong Balacan ($6) // The KangKong was surprising good. The veggies was cooked till it turned really soft and the fragrance of garlic and dried shrimp was there. It was really a good dish.

Stir fried beef with garlic ($8) // The beef was slightly overcooked,  but the sauce was good. The portion was quite generous.

Food: 4.75/5
Ambience: 2/5
Service: 4/5
Price: 4.75/5

The food was really good, if only they expend their outlet. It is worth another visit. There are no GST and Service charged over at this restaurant.

Last stop of the week's, Bangkok Jam at plaza singapura.

Having a short catch up with Oogii over lunch.

Menu photo taken from Bangkok jam website.

Thai Milk Tea ($5.90++) // Below average. Not recommended.

Fried chicken mid joint ($10.50++) // Not really appetising,  the wings was slightly dry and over fried.

Thai Massaman Curry with New Zealand Beef ($14.50++) // The curry was good, the spiciness was there and the beef was soft and tender. It was a great dish.

Stir fried beef with asparagus and mushroom ($13.90++) // The beef was tender and the sauce was good. But the portion was too little.

Food: 2.5/5
Ambience: 3.25/5
Service: 3/5
Price: 2.75/5

The food failed to impress me and the service was a bit slow. The interior design of the restaurant was quite nice though. But It is not worth a try.

That's all for this week's food post. Stay tuned for more food post.

Thanks for reading! :)
