Very sweet, as if i am drink sugar!!

Fried Dough - $5

Over pried fried dough. The fried dough was very hard as if i am eating rock. It was quite cold too.

Taste: 0/5

Beef Noodle - $5

The beef noodle broth was just normal. It wasn't flavorful and it was on the bland side.

Taste: 1/5

Overall, the food was pretty normal. I would rather go eat fast food than come here and eat.

Was having dinner with my ex-group mates at Derwish Turkish Restaurant. Was walking around arab street to find our dinner places but we couldn't decide, so when a derwish server came over and approach us and intro their dishes and one of us is convinced by them so..

Adana Tavuk Kebab - $16

Adana Tavuk Kebab is known as a long, hand-minced meat kebab mounted on a wide iron skewer and grilled on an open mangal filled with burning charcoal. The meat was a little bit tough but it still alright. The spices aroma was strong but it was fragrance and the meat was soaked in it.

Taste: 2/5

Chicken Shish Kebab - $18

It came with a skewer chicken, veggie, green chilli and rice.

The rice was fragrance and moist. The chicken was fragrance as it was soaked in the spices and herbs, it was tender and juicy.

Taste: 2/5

Lamb Shish Kebab - $20

The lamb wasn't as tasty as the chicken. The lamb was slightly tough and the lamb smell was quite strong.

Food Review: Chin Chin Eating House x OKG Express

I was introduced to the ones at Chin Chin Eating House recently by one of my blogger friends, a classic restaurant that brings the nostalgia back from the 1980s. Located at the corner of Purvis Street, Chin Chin is no stranger to Hainanese food lovers. Inside Chin Chin 津津, the old school restaurant founded in 1934 has a familiar, homely feel. Very clean and basic functional decor. Chin Chin is popular with families as their quite extensive, reasonably priced menu has something for every generation.

Sauces for chicken rice.

The dark soy sauce was a failed. It was very watery and lacking of taste.

The chilli sauce wasn't that spicy and fragrance too.

Lime Juice - $1.50

Normal.

Chicken rice - $1

The rice wasn't that fragrance and the rice was quite soggy.

Steamed Chicken - $13 (half)

The chicken on the other hand was tasty, tender and covered with a attractive layer of fat. The portion of chicken was surprisingly large.

Taste: 1.5/5

Sambal Kangkong - $6

The sambal kangkong was too watery and it was lacking of spiciness and the crunchiness in the kangkong.

Taste: 0.25/5

Chaipo Omelette - $6

The chaipo omelette was pretty normal. The omelette wasn't crispy and savory enough!!

Taste: 0.5/5

Food: 0.25/5
Ambiance: 0.5/5
Service: 0/5

Overall, the food was pretty average!! The ambiance was very noisy too and the service was even worst!! I had the worst experience at Chin Chin eating house!! I will never go back again!!

Curry Chicken - $5.50

The curry was creamy and spicy. It was very addictive too. The chicken was soft and tender. I can just have the curry with my rice.

Taste: 3/5

Mei Cai Kou Rou - $3.80

The mei cai kou rou was quite disappointing. The meat wasn't tender enough. The mei cai wasn't sourish enough too.

Taste: 0.5/5

Food Review: Cocoa Colony x Let's Eat

Cocoa Colony is based upon the idea of Carlos and Louie, two Spanish aristocratic brothers who had fallen on hard times in 1848 at the peak of the Gold Rush phenomenon and who seeked to travel to California to revive their declining wealth.

Enroute to California, a frightful storm capsized the ship they were on. Terrified, the brothers clung on to what they could for days before they finally drifted ashore, landing on what turned out to be Ecuador. Exhausted, they stumbled towards a cluster of exotic-looking trees and fell asleep.

A painful thump on his head woke Carlos up with a yell – a large object had fallen from the tree and injured him. A local tribesman who had been observing them from a distance hurried forward and suggested that they should follow him back to his village so he could help treat the wound. Warily, the brothers followed and thankfully, their fears were soon alleviated when the villagers warmly welcomed them and handed them a most comforting hot beverage. They were told that this local ‘elixir’ could prevent and treat illnesses, relieve fatigue and even act as a natural aphrodisiac. Carlos discovered that this wondrous ‘elixir’ was made from the very same fruit that fell on him — cocoa.

Over the next few days, the brothers experienced for themselves the healing properties of cocoa and were determined to introduce its goodness to their family and countrymen back home. They returned to Spain and devoted their time to developing wholesome and delicious cocoa beverages and snacks. Their recipes proved an instant hit across the land and the cocoa fruit, once a rare commodity that only royals could delight in, became accessible to every man.

Carlos and Louie were heartened by their success. They recognized that the cocoa they discovered was even more precious than real gold; the “Amazonian Gold” they had found had benefitted not just themselves, but their family, friends and even the wider European community. It brought riches beyond what they could have ever dreamed of.

The Cocoa Colony logo depicts Carlos and Louie under the cocoa tree, harvesting the cocoa, symbolising how the brand endeavours to produce the best beverages and snacks that cocoa can produce and share the “Amazonian Gold” to customers today.

Following the success of the launch in Shanghai, the chain opened its first outlet in Singapore at Shaw Center in December 2014, having its second outlet at The Cathay in late April, and followed by its third outlet at Suntec City in early May 2015. Expanding aggressively, Cocoa Colony has three newer outlets at Great World City, City Square and Star Vista, and with its seventh outlet opened at 313 @ Somerset on 7th August 2015.

The brand has plans to open up to 12 outlets in Singapore by end of 2015 and aspire to expand into markets like Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and London in the next few years. Visited the Cocoa Colony outlet at the newly revamped Suntec City Mall, which is one of the larger stores as compared to the flagship store at Shaw Centre.

A range of Candy and chocolate products to choose from.

Cake and candy display area.

A few choice of ice cream to choose from.

Iced Cocoa Shakerato - $7

It was really chocolaty!! The chocolate kick was very strong and it wasn't too sweet. It was quite addictive.

Taste: 4/5

Iced Hazelnut Cocoa - $7

The drink taste like ferroro rocher!! It was way too good.

Taste: 4.25/5

Caramel Rum - $4.80 single scoop

The rum flavor coming through very very strongly, and which paired well with the caramel ice cream.

Taste: 3/5

Penang Char Kway Tiao - $5

It was good but it can be better. It was lacking of some flavor. The char kway tiao was lacking of some sweet and savory flavors.

Taste: 1.25/5

Fishball Noodle - $4

The noodle was very little and the fishball wasn't fresh!! The fish ball has a raw and stinky fishy smell!!

Food Review: Smoothie House

Renowned for its mango snowflake ice and highly rated by CNN as a must-try dessert destination in Taiwan, Smoothie House opens its first outlet in Singapore!! Famous of its snowflake ice desserts and fruit smoothies, there are consistent long queues at its original shop space at Taiwan.

Mix Strawberry snowflake ice with panna cotta - $15.90

The strawberry snowflake is as good as mango snowflake too. The base is in a pink strawberry flavour though, so there is a sourish-slant towards the end of each bite. It came with a variety of other fruits including mango and kiwis A good combination.

Taste: 4/5

Mango Snowflake ice with Panna Cotta - $12.90

The signature and best-selling item. The flavoured blocks of ice that would be shaved are actually all imported directly from Taiwan, while the fruits come from various sources. The shaved ice had the perfect consistency and I literally for in love n it. The fruit was very fresh and sweet. The panna cotta is the BOMB, which was silky, clean, and light, not as rich as perhaps how the European restaurants would have done it.

Cafe Review: The Laneway Market

Named for being located in a laneway off the busy Tanjong Katong Road, The Laneway Market is a cosy eatery where people can come together and be merry whilst enjoying good food. The interior presents a welcoming atmosphere, with various wood accents to bring in a modern touch, ensuring an unpretentious and comfortable stay.

Interior was decorated with lot of dry flowers.

FOOD:

Signature Iced Earl Grey Latte - $6.20

Something that you can't find at other cafe. A creative invention. I could taste the earl grey and it was so fragrant, plus the latte wasn't too bitter and was actually delightful to sip on.

Taste: 3.5/5

Iced Earl Grey Tea - $6.50

Just a normal iced earl grey tea.

Taste: 2.5/5

Truffles Fries - $12

This came in a huge portion with generous toppings of parmesan cheese and olives. I thought they were pretty normal at first, but it became more and more addictive after that. I will definitely be back for more of it.

Taste: 5/5

Risotto - $20

Hon dashi, field mushrooms, onsen egg, beurre noisette poached crab meat, bonito flakes, parmesan.

The risotto was very different from others eatery place and it had added bonus of being very filling. The portions were generous too.

Taste: 3.75/5

Pulled Pork Burger - $20

12 hours braised pork in beer infused BBQ sauce, purple cabbage slaw, truffle fries and mesclun on the side.

Its a rather unique dish i'd have to say, the pulled pork was marinated well and the whole dish just went well together. The only minus point was the burger bun as it was a little bit too hard and bland.

Taste: 3.75/5

Food: 4/5
Ambiance: 4/5
Service: 5/5

The Laneway Market seems to add yet another interesting addition to this neighbourhood full of eateries. The decor is pretty chill, while despite having some hits and misses with the food, we thought they were pretty sincere in what they serve out of the kitchen and to the way they serve their customers. They are NETT Priced cafe, their service was really good and they were friendly. water was provided the moment i sat down and refilled promptly. when i was given the menu,
