Experience the charm of Korea and PyeongChang Winter Olympics at K-Square 

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea is pleased to present the annual Korea Festival 2017, K-Square, where Singaporeans will be introduced to the unforgettable Korean culture, both traditional and modern, as well as have a taste of the spirit of the upcoming PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics. 


Happening from 14 October to 19 October at the newly launched Our Tampines Hub, Singapore’s first-ever integrated community and lifestyle hub, K-Square will showcase the best of all things about Korea, and provide a fun and holistic experience for both the young and the young-at-heart. The 6-day event is open to public and is spread across 6 signature KZones made up of K-Culture, K-Food, K-Technology, K-Beauty, K-Travel and the PyeongChang Winter Olympic House. For the first time in Singapore, K-Square is also planning to feature a Halal K-Food section to cater to the growing base of K-Food enthusiasts within the local Muslim community. 

Opening Ceremony on 14 October 

This prestigious event will kick off with an Opening Ceremony on 14 October at 1pm, where an opening speech will be delivered by His Excellency Lee Sangdeok, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Singapore, followed by a special message from the Guest-of-Honour Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources. 

You can look forward to engaging all your senses as you enjoy the cultural line-up onstage at the Opening Ceremony. Musician Lee Seul Gi will be mesmerizing the audience with the Gayageum, a traditional Korean string instrument that was invented as early as the 6th century in Korea, and performing in collaboration with Prof Jeong Kyeong Hwa (Sori) and Shin Su Youn (Keyboard). Singaporean singer Akif Halqi, who was awarded “Best Vocal” at the Grand Finals of KBS K-Pop World Festival 2017, will belt out a K-Pop performance onstage. The Original Drawing Show by artistic producer Kim Jin-kyu, where the harmonious mix of live drawings with performance arts will keep the audience captivated. At the end of the Opening Ceremony, the audience will be at the edge of their seats as they watch an energetic and heart-pumping Taekwondo performance onstage by the Singapore Taekwondo Federation. 

Daily Stage Activities 

Throughout the event, look forward to the dynamic displays of the best of traditional and modern-day Korea onstage. The exciting line-up includes a melodious Samul Nori performance by the Singapore Korean International School; a graceful Korean traditional dance by the Singapore Korean Dance Company; trendy K-Pop performances by the winners from the KBS K-Pop World Festival 2017 (Singapore Preliminaries) organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea; as well as a heartwarming K-animation (subject to change) screening marathon for the young residents in the area.

K-Culture Zone 

If you love a more hands-on approach to learning about Korean culture, you can step into nostalgia with daily games, craft and cultural appreciation activities. With the interactive activities lined up, you can learn how to build a kite, compete in a Jegi Chagi and Paengi (Korean spinning top) competition, be a master at making a Ttakji and battle to be a Ttakji champion, or experience traditional tea appreciation. 

K-Technology Zone 

Fast-forward to the future with the hi-tech and state-of-the-art technologies from Korea presented by Hyundai Motor and LG Electronics from the K-Technology Zone. Get your engines revving as you explore the cutting edge Korean automotive technology present in Hyundai Motor's latest series of vehicle. Homemakers can also jump on the K-Technology bandwagon with the impressive state-of-the-art products by LG Electronics incorporated into household appliances for the kitchen, laundry room and home office.

K-Travel Zone 

Hop over to the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) booth for hot tips on travelling to Korea. Be ready to plan for your next perfect holiday as our friendly travel ambassadors share tips on what to see and do in Korea to make your trip an even more magical experience. You can also test your skills at the K-Travel Zone ice fishing arena to see if you have what it takes to take part in one of Korea’s most popular winter activities.

K-Beauty Zone 

Want perfect skin like your favourite Korean superstars? Find out their secrets and beauty tips from the top Korean beauty brands like Korea’s first global make-up brand Etude House, and grab some beauty samples and flash tattoos from The Shilla Duty Free at our K-Beauty Zone. Stand to win a pair of Shilla Beauty concert tickets featuring top K-pop acts SHINee and Red Velvet in Singapore when you visit The Shilla Duty Free’s booth! 

K-Food Zone 

The K-Food Zone gets you acquainted with some of your favourite Korean dishes and you can learn why these dishes are close to the hearts of Koreans all over the world. Discover 10 Korean Cuisines Loved Around the World by Korean Food Foundation. You can also join us in the search for the best local K-Food chef in Singapore with the Hansik Contest taking place in the brand new culinary studios in Our Tampines Hub. The contest is open to Singaporeans from all over the island, with attractive prizes to be won. Don’t miss the daily food sampling sessions right at the K-Food Zone, where K-Square plans to introduce an all-new section for Halal K-Food!


PyeongChang Winter Olympic House 

With all the buzz around the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, the PyeongChang Winter Olympic House is a must-see at K-Square. Find out more about Korea's most anticipated event of 2018 and discover what makes PyeongChang the perfect location for this international event. Get a taste of how it feels like to be an athlete at the Winter Olympic House with the mini ice-hockey station as well as other engaging activities in store for everyone in the family. There will also be a PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics photo-zone where the photo opportunities await!
